for curators and artists for solo for group show exhibitions

We accept all types of work and ideas for different ways of utilizing our space including immersive installation and two-dimensional work. We will also accept free standing or small sculptures that can fit on a pedestal to be provided by the proposers. Video, New Media and Sound art is accepted.

Submissions must be via email at startaarta@gmail.com and should include the following:

  • We require an exhibition proposal summary (500 words max) of the show you hope to bring to our space.

  • Images of the work.
    Images do not need to be the artworks which will be included in the exhibition but will serve as examples of the kind of work that will be in the show. Images should be max 2 MB. The JPEGs data files must be labeled: EXHIBITION TITLE_ARTIST-NAME-NUMBER .jpg (example: The Cube_JohnSmith_1).

    Images’ list including artist name, title, year, sizes, media and price of each art work. JPEG labels must correspond to each description of the work in the list. Please include a description of each image you include with your proposal.

  • Curator CV and/or all artists included in the show.

Starta Arta will provide the space at 220 E 23rd Street,
4th floor gallery in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park neighborhood.
This space is approximately 2000 sf.

StartaArta will provide use of the space for between 3 and 7 days only.
For this time and space a nominal fee will be charged the proposing artist/curator team.

For this fee the space will be available for:

  • The exhibition

  • Help hanging

  • Putting on an opening party/reception

  • Web site and social media posting

  • Starta Arta’s collection of contacts in New York and beyond.

Each year, bi-annually, the collected proposals will be reviewed by the Starta Arta curatorial team and we will reply to your proposals at that time.

If your submission is accepted, the curator/artist is responsible for the shipping to/from the space for all work in the show. 

Installation of the artwork will take place the week prior to the exhibition. There will be a coordinator/installer onsite during installation.

Damage to artwork or framing is not the responsibility or liability of the gallery. We care about your artwork and take great measures to ensure it is handled properly, but cannot accept liability.

All artworks will be offered for sale. Starta Arta takes a 20% commission on all sales made or promised during the exhibition.

Accepted entries are represented by Starta Arta for the duration of the exhibition, and artworks will be promoted on our website and other social media.
